Programme Lineup Special Guest Performer - Selena Tan
Her more recent stage outings include Chang & Eng (Nok – the twin's mother), Blithe Spirit (Mrs Kwek), Animal Farm (Mollie, Moses, Minimus), A Single Woman (writer, director and performer), Ang Tau Mui (Ang Tau Mui), and as a Dim Sum Dolly in Steaming! She was also part of a stellar cast chosen to perform the play Animal Farm for the New Zealand International Arts Festival 2004. She is also a prolific writer. She's penned several hit stand-up comedy/cabaret shows – Selena EXPOSED , Broadway Baby Kailan , The 2 nd Broadway Baby Kailan , The Other Side Of The Teacher's Table , Maybe Knot , Report Cuts , PS21+ , Medicares , Wanton Me , last year's talk of the town – The Revenge of the Dim Sum Dollies . Selena's latest stroke of brilliance – Wild Rice's production of Aladdin . Her first stab at playwriting, Pillow Talk , was nominated for Best Play at the 2002 Life! Theatre Awards. Selena is also a familiar face in local film and television. She's appeared in both of Jack Neo's hits, I Not Stupid (tyrant mother) and Homerun (Midwife). For her work on the small screen, she has become a household name – Under One Roof (Anita Chow), All Change (host), Art Factory (host) and as the irrepressible Aunty Violet in Daddy's Girls . She has also made guest appearance s on PCK Pte Ltd , Tonight With Gurmit , Upfront With Najip Ali , Alter Asians and The Great Divide . Most recently, Selena reprised her role as Ang Tau Mui on the small screen for Art's Central Stage to Screen series. This year, Selena takes her company, Dream Academy , to new heights with a new office space and two new productions akan dating. Watch out as she combines her comedy prowess with Hossan Leong in It Takes Two this May. This is followed by a third instalment in the Dim Sum Dollies series. A BRAND NEW SHOW, Din Sum Dollies : Singapore 's Most Wanted premieres at the Esplanade theatre this August! Selena is also a proud member of the Association of Singapore Actors.
Hossan is well known in Singapore for his stand-up comedy routines, his most recent sell-out show Hossan, LIVE! was a huge success. He is affectionately called The Singapore Boy. Hossan made his directorial debut in Sydney in 2003. He directed Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Flower Drum Song for AHA! Productions in their inaugural production. This year he produced, directed and starred in Best Served Cold, a murder-mystery dinner theatre piece for the World Gourmet Summit. His fluency in the French language has led him to work with the Alliance Française on a Tribute to Edith Piaf. He represented the Singapore Actors in Paris at the Asian Film Festival. Hossan started his career on the stage with one of Singapore’s leading theatre companies, The Necessary Stage in 1993. His first play, Off Centre, led him to more plays with the company, such as Waiting, WWW, 1+1=3, Asian Boys Vol.1, Mardi Gras and Top or Bottom. Last year, he was also in ACTION Theatre’s Prelude To A Kiss and the Christmas hit, The House of Flying Chestnuts. He has worked with the best in Musical Theatre from the States, London, Australia and Singapore. Musical theatre credits include: Cinderellah, Honk!, The Forbidden City, Chang and Eng, Fiddler On The Roof, Twist Of Fate, Beauty World, Corporate Animals and Sing To The Dawn. Other theatre credits include The Crucible, Comic Potential, The Proposal, The Breakfast Club, Lovepuke, The Morning People, Army Daze and a monologue, Shrimps In Space. On television, Hossan guest starred on Under One Roof, from which he went on to front his own show, The Donny Lee Show. He has established himself as a versatile television actor from his roles in Can I Help You?, Making Headlines, School Days, Shiver and various television series. Hossan was also on Hallmark Entertainment’s The Monkey King. He most recently guest-starred in Chase. On the silver screen, Hossan has starred in numerous short films including, Singapore Girl and 576. He has just completed work on a Hong Kong-Singapore co-production, One Last Dance. In 2001, Hossan made two movies, One Leg Kicking and I Not Stupid. The latter garnering rave reviews in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Korea. Other media-related work include being a radio DJ, Voice-Over artist, Pianist (Dim Sum Dollies) and recording artist. He also hosts corporate events and entertains at dinner functions for a growing number of local and multinational companies. Hossan has offered numerous sessions of Theatre-In-Education to schools and has conducted Drama Classes for both teenagers and adults. Being musically trained, Hossan has also taught piano and singing. Together with Paul Carr, he trains people in Media Management and Presentation.
